In a year that felt surreal and dark, this intimate wedding at Terrain at Styers was a reminder that love will ultimately shine through and there is unbridled joy in many moments, particularly when a small group of only the nearest and dearest get together to celebrate a sweet union. And that is just what this mid-September intimate wedding at Terrain was:  the joyous and heartfelt celebration of Heather and John getting married!

All photos in this post are by the talented and generous Erin at Grace & Ardor.  Talk about an eye for detail!! Definitely check them out if you’re on the hunt for a wedding photographer!

Typically, we meet our couples 10-12 months in advance of their wedding and talk lots of details for their big day.  But 2020 made for some several unique client relationships, including this one.  We actually never met Heather and John, only exchange a handful of emails just a few weeks before their wedding.  Like so many couples, they were forced to shift their wedding from their original date and their florist was no longer available for the new date so we stepped in to fill their intimate wedding at Terrain at Stylers with gorgeous blooms from our farm.

Heather chose her bouquet from our Elopement Package, opting for the soft colors and a loose natural shape.  The resulting bridal bouquet included blush Café au Lait dahlias, white dahlias, white zinnias, blush gomphrena, blush caryopteris, cream lisianthus, white strawflowers, golden coxcomb, lavender leaves, eucalyptus, and blush cosmos.  Soft, fragrant and romantic, it paired perfectly with Heather’s classic white dress and veil.

John wore a complimentary boutonniere featuring a white dahlia, blush gomphrena, lisianthus buds, lavender leaves and eucalyptus.  The boutonniere was wrapped in a navy blue ribbon perfect for his blue gray herringbone suit.  Serendipity!

Heather and John invited 20 of their nearest and dearest to this intimate wedding at Terrain at Styers, choosing to get married outdoors under the striking wooden temple.  We provided lush florals to match Heather’s bouquet to hang on the temple.  These florals were part of our Prix Fixe Package and featured lots of dahlias, zinnias, caryopteris and eucalyptus.

After cocktails on the veranda, dinner was served indoors at one long table lit warmly by candles and café string lights.  Doesn’t this just look like the perfect intimate moment?  Perhaps weddings can stay like this for awhile. They seem all the sweeter for being condensed down.

One very special moment happened at the end of the evening.  We weren’t there so we’ll just recount Erin from Grace & Ardor’s words:  “Heather and John’s wedding day was incredible.  At the end of the night, after I had just packed up all my equipment, a butterfly flew and landed right on Heather’s finger.  It stayed there, calm and peaceful, for a long time.  Heather was close with my former bride, Ashley, who suddenly passed away last month.  We can’t help but think she was sending a sign to us all.”   Amazing!
