We’re always delighted to be flowering for an Inn at Barley Sheaf wedding. We’ve had so many wonderful couples get married there over the years. It’s a magical estate that checks all the boxes: on-site luxury accommodations for the bridal party and families, beautiful expansive grounds and gardens, meticulous service, award-winning food, lovingly maintained historic buildings, and a great location easy to access from both Philadelphia and New York City. So, yes, an Inn at Barley Sheaf wedding is always pretty special. But Brooke and David’s celebration took it up a notch!
Anyone who’s met Brooke and David know their individual energies are delightful and infectious. Combine them together and it’s impossible not to feel like you’re on a warm sunny beach in the Caribbean, drinking pina coladas, and having the time of your life! Truly, there’s something really unique about how these two humans amplify all the love and happiness around them. You can see it in all the images from their wedding, right?? Working with them on planning their Inn at Barley Sheaf wedding was incredibly fun and easy! They were relaxed, gracious and fully trusting the entire year leading up to the big day, letting us dream up some unique ideas. So happy to call them friends for life now!
Brooke and David wanted their Inn at Barley Sheaf wedding to be a fun celebration — nothing stuffy or overdone. They had no interest in pretentious florals or even in “blowing their guests away”. They just wanted fun, bright, natural, and unique. So we started with the color palette and kept everything pretty simple from there. Sunny yellow, warm peach, tropical coral, pops of pink, and lots of greenery against a backdrop of navys and french blues seemed to fit the high-summer feel of this July Inn at Barley Sheaf wedding of nearly 300 family and friends coming together to celebrate Brooke and David.
Brooke wanted a big and colorful bridal bouquet full of the farm’s best July flowers. She had visited the farm earlier in the spring to see all the baby flowers being grown just for her bouquet and couldn’t wait to carry it down the aisle. It was such a treat to hand it to her and see the tears of joy it brought. This is why we do this, people!!
Of course we had to craft a fun boutonniere for David to match. He set the bar high with his bright pink and yellow floral tie and navy suit! His groomsmen were some of our favorite guys, full of wit and smiles while we pinned on their boutonnieres to their seersucker suits. Truth be told, no one was looking forward to putting on their jackets in the 90 degree heat!!
The ceremony took place out under the big old oak tree on the lawn by the pool. It was sooooo tempting to jump in that pool while setting up the draped floral chuppah. Thankfully the shade of the tree crept over as the afternoon unfolded and guests at this Inn at Barley Sheaf wedding were able to find some relief from the hot summer sun.
After cocktail hour on the flagstone patio in the garden, guests were invited to dinner in the large tent behind the barn. The tables were set with french blue linens, which we adorned with three different styles of centerpieces and heaps of candles. Baby peaches from our farm’s small orchard were laid on the tables as well for a little seasonal interest.
But the grand statement at this Inn at Barley Sheaf wedding were the two tent poles framing the dance floor. Brooke and David had a choreographed first dance planned and we wanted to provide a beautiful backdrop for that. We created a lush, scrambling, wild floral installation up the poles, mimicking the surrounding wild meadow behind the tent. Such a fun project to undertake and a nice break from the hanging floral hoops we often do for tent weddings!
Congrats, Brooke + David! We truly adore you!! Can we please do this again sometime?! Say, every anniversary??
Beautiful photos in this post by the talented and generous duo at Redfield Photography. Thanks, John and Marisa!!

Wow, your work is exceptional! You’ve given me a wonderful idea for our bell tents at our tiny B&B / Budding flow farm. Dressing the tent polls, so gorgeous 💕💖💕
