What’s that old saying? A day late and a dollar short. I’ve been lagging behind on posting our many weddings here to the blog. Every time I see another one of our own published on a wedding blog, I kick myself a bit for not staying up-to-date here. This was exactly the case when I saw Brooke and Mark’s 2017 summer wedding pop up on the Philly In Love Blog last week! Such a pretty wedding, beautiful flowers, a charming town and river backdrop, and a decidedly fun couple deserves a spotlight here too!
All the flowers used in this wedding, like 99.9% of our weddings, were grown at our Philadelphia flower farm, making them truly locally-grown, sustainable, and seasonal wedding florals!
All photos in this post were taken by the talented husband and wife duo at Bartlett Pair Photography. Many thanks, you two!!
New Hope Lambertville Inn Summer Wedding Brook and Mark Just Married

The Wedding Planning Process

I met with Brooke, Mark and Brooke’s dad (love when a dad gets involved in the planning process!) nearly a year to the day before their wedding so we had plenty of time to develop their entire vision and choose the flowers to grow at the farm that would be perfect for their celebration. Brooke wanted it to be classic, but not stuffy. Mark wanted it to feel just a bit rustic since he’s a farmer and a brewer. Mark also wanted to feature some of the hops and wheat he grows on his farm in the wedding details. You had me at hops!
Brooke’s dad happens to own the Lambertville Station Inn so it was only natural that they get married there. This boutique hotel is right along the majestic and historic Delaware River and has amazing light in it’s open-air cocktail space and the upstairs ballroom. I was excited to be decorating it! Plus it’s right across the river from one of my very favorite small towns to putter around in on a summer afternoon, New Hope, PA.
New Hope Lambertville Summer Wedding Church Ceremony for Brook and Mark

The Ceremony

Brooke and Mark actually had TWO ceremonies! They are a fairly private pair, and they didn’t relish the idea of saying their personally-written vows in front of a huge crowd. So they decided to get married in a very intimate family-only ceremony the night before the “big day” in the catholic church in Lambertville. Brooke chose to have a small, white and green only bouquet to carry for this ceremony. Two lush, large urns full of hydrangeas and dahlias sat on the altar. Simply perfect.
The following day, Brooke and Mark were surrounded by nearly 180 friends (and family) as they held a second ceremony in the chapel space at the Lamberville Station Inn. This one was a bit more raucous with a brass band sending them off at the end! Brooke carried a new bridal bouquet, this one featuring more flowers (less greenery) and touches of mustard yellow and peach. Mark wore a boutonniere featuring his own homegrown hops.
The aisle was decorated with textural gatherings of seasonal flowers and foliage tied to the chairs. The altar area featured another pair of lush, large urns.

The Reception

The vibrant reception that followed started with a cocktail hour along the riverfront with hi-top tables holding spun-glass bud vases featuring textural greens and white flowers. We wrapped the support beams in this cocktail space in vines and ferns (sadly, I forgot to snap a picture and the photographers thought those vines were just naturally growing there so they didn’t take photos of them either; a compliment, I guess?).
Guests went upstairs to the ballroom for dinner, where we had dressed the tables in a mix of tall and low centerpieces with gold accents. The tall centerpieces in particular where dripping with limelight hydrangeas, lisianthus, and greenery. I’m particularly fond of the gold stands we used to elevate these tall pieces as they did not block the beautiful view of the river at all or cause headaches for guests trying to chat across the table.
