Race Street Pier Wedding Ceremony
A Race Street Pier wedding is about as Philly as you can get! With the iconic Ben Franklin Bridge looming in the background and the industrious shipping warehouses flanking the sides of the pier jutting out into the mighty Delaware River, there’s absolutely no spot even remotely like it elsewhere. But getting married on Race Street Pier is not for anyone who’s shy. A Race Street Pier wedding is essentially open to the public. In fact, there are even amphitheater style seats up on the grass knoll above where onlookers often camp out to watch the bride walking down the long length of the pier! But there’s something quintessentially Philly about that too, am I right? At least the spectators tend to be a lot better behaved than Eagles fans!
Having a Race Street Pier wedding also means great portraits before and after, with the dramatic architecture of the riverfront as timeless backdrops for your wedding photos. Look at these amazing images of Katie + Santo captured by the Rhythm and Bloom crew!
The Flowers
For their late May Race Street Pier wedding, Katie + Santo chose to use our Prix Fixe Package, opting for the neutral color palette. Their flowers included an abundance of our farm’s billowing, fragrant white peonies, along with ranunculus, spirea, foxglove, pearl bush, tulips, and viburnum. Lots of fragrance and texture!
Katie chose the wild and unstructured shape for her bouquet, which complimented her lacy gown exquisitely. She also chose to wear a flower comb in her hair that echoed her bouquet. Standing by her side were bridesmaids in romantic off-the-shoulder gray and green floral print dresses and her Maid of Honor in soft peach, which pulled out the soft peach of the foxgloves and ranunculus in the bouquets. A poised and pretty flower girl wore an opulent peony flower crown like a pro!
To create a focal point for the ceremony for their Race Street Pier wedding, the couple chose to use a pair of large lush statement arrangements full of seasonal foliage, peonies, iris, and viburnum designed in gold urns (unbreakable in case the wind on the pier blew them over). These urns sat directly on the ground behind Katie + Santo as they said their vows and then were moved by the groomsmen to the wedding reception on the historic ship, The Moshulu, nearby.
