Our Floral Jewelry Floral Design Workshop was a blast this past weekend!  We welcomed ten eager students into our brand-new barn to enjoy an afternoon of creative floral jewelry making with our farm’s freshly picked flowers.  Students joined us for this Floral Jewelry Floral Design Workshop from all over the East coast, including Virginia and Massachusetts!   We had a few returning students too, which always makes our hearts happy!

The Floral Jewelry Floral Design Workshop began with a farm tour so students could see where all the flowers were growing that they’d be working with during class.  Then we went into the big beautiful black barn (still smelling of fresh paint!) and students watched as Jennie demonstrated how to make several unique wearable floral pieces, including a flower necklace, a flower cuff/wristlet, a flower “tattoo”, a flower comb, and a flower hair crown, all using blooms grown at our farm.

Once the demos were complete, students were unleashed on the bounty of blooms to make their own creations.  Lots of amazing necklaces, combs, and tattoos in particular were crafted.  Everyone was sent home with a box cradling their floral jewelry along with extra blooms and the supplies needed to keep practicing their newfound art at home!

During this class we used a lot of wonderful spring blooms, including Giant Snowdrops, Ranunculus, Butterfly Ranunculus, Pearl Bush, Dogwood Blossoms,Flowering Quince, Muscari, Hellebore, Geums, Fritillaria, Tulips, Fragrant Stock, Bleeding Hearts, Icelandic Poppies, Russian Olive, Variegated Boxwood, Dusty Miller, and Heuchera.

We’re really looking forward to hosting our next floral design workshop in the barn on May 5th!   If you’d like to join us for a floral design workshop, we’d love that!!  Click here to see the full 2019 schedule.  Students who attend a formal workshop are then invited to attend our summer Floral Happy Hours, which are a relaxed experience for true flower lovers to simply unwind and savor the blooms for an evening without any particular agenda.
