Teaching workshops has always been extremely near and dear to my heart. I love being able to pass along the joy of floral design to a student on any level, complete beginner or advanced professional. I was fortunate to have some amazing teachers and mentors throughout my life that inspire me to this day, and I love paying that forward.
The Master Classes at the farm are truly my favorite of all the educational “stuff” I participate in, both at the farm and around the country. In these intensive but supportive classes that welcome floral professionals, new or experienced, to delve deeper into developing their dreams, defining their actionable goals, and improving their core skills, there is such a tangible personal reward. My spirit soars as I see each one of them go on to grow their businesses and careers exponentially! So many star pupils moving and shaking the floral industry today, including Moonflower Design, Taproot, Hops Petunia, Little Acre Flowers, and many more.
Notes like this one from Evelyn Lee at Butternut Gardens after last year’s Weddings class make my heart happy:
“The class was FANTASTIC!!! Lots of fun. Great information. Jennie, you do it all with such a unique and welcoming flare. I wouldn’t change a thing, as it was just the right mix of pre-planned (and well-planned and well-executed, I might add) presentation and hands-on work, coupled with organic question and answer filled with an incredible amount of useful information. Tremendous gratitude for your sharing your experience, knowledge, design skills and style, along with a great support team, beautiful farm, awesome flowers and a fearless attitude, which shall boost us all along for a good time to come.”
Sitting at the beautiful celebratory farewell dinner at last year’s Weddings master class, my eyes got watery; I was so touched and happy to witness and absorb the warm, enlivened conversation coursing around the table. Complete strangers just 48 hours earlier were parting as fast friends who would keep those connections alive over the coming season to support one another. That sense of community is what I live for every day. I am a small-town girl at heart, after all.
I truly wish that I could open up the Master Class series and the farm to anyone who could get themselves there. Alas, hosting these intensive classes and all they entail does have a hefty toll on our farm, flowers, staff and, well, me!
But I know the cost of tuition can be daunting, especially for newer designers who may not have invested in themselves professionally before. It’s a leap of faith, no two ways about it! While we can’t give away every seat, we are giving away one on scholarship to a lucky designer eager to stretch her wings at our Weddings Master Class on June 8th & 9th this year!
Is that you? Scroll down for complete details!
xoxo
