I’m so excited to announce the launch of our new International Flower Farmer Exchange project here at Love ‘n Fresh Flowers!! We want to connect and collaborate with more international flower farmers. So we’ve created this opportunity to work with us through a short-term work exchange program at our farm! Sounds like fun, right? You betcha!
So here’s how it works:
- Applicants must have an existing farm operation of their own and be located in another country besides the United States.
- Applicants must be able to commit to 25-35 days at our farm between June 1 – October 1. We want to know you’ll be around long enough to really settle into a routine with us and learn a lot. Maybe you’re located in the Southern Hemisphere and this would make a great winter holiday abroad!
- Applicants must speak fluent English so we can communicate easily.
- Applicants must pay for their own travel from their home to and from Philadelphia. We will provide housing in a lovely little cottage next to the farm.
While at the farm, you’ll be immersed in all the daily tasks of running our flower farm. See what we plant and how we plant it. See how we manage weeds and pests. See how we fertilize and irrigate to grow the highest quality flowers. See how we harvest efficiently and process the flowers. See how we run our Flower CSA and make our grocery store bouquets. See how we design for our weddings and manage delivery and set-up of events.
Of course while you’re here, you’ll be working along side us and telling us all about your own farm and how you do things there. My guess is we can learn a lot of from each other! And hopefully we’ll make some great connections for our own winter holidays in the future!!
We have two slots for this exchange, one person at a time. To apply, please send an introduction letter, a link to your website/social media accounts, and pictures of yourself and your farm to info@lovenfreshflowers.com by May 17th.
Can’t wait to meet you!
I LOVE this idea! I can’t wait to hear more!
Shoot. Can’t believe I missed this! Will you be taking applicants next year? Does living in Canada (American Ex-Pat) count?
Living in Canada counts. 🙂 We hope to do it again next year. We have our spots filled for this year.
