I had fun with this week’s Backyard Bouquet design, which was inspired by the citron green blooms of the chestnut trees that surround the farm. I loved how the clean whites and vibrant greens married for a strikingly modern, yet natural, spring centerpiece. Isn’t it interesting how much variation in color there is in this simple combination of blooms and foliage? In addition to the chestnut blooms, featured this week were ranunculus, hellebores, narcissus, anemones, pear blossoms, tulips and ferns. A great snapshot of what’s blooming in late April at our Philadelphia flower farm!

Well, you don’t have to hang around the flower world for long to figure out that plain, old fashioned yellow tulips are not “in”. But that’s what I had in the yard, and I have enjoyed their cheeriness! With the right companions they turned out quite attractive, “in” or not.

I love your fresh green and whites! I’m looking forward to having such abundance to play around with, though for me it’s going to be a few weeks yet!
