The mornings are cool once again. The sun golden and warm as it rises later each day. It’s a little harder to get out of bed in the mornings now that the blankets are back on and it’s so snuggly under them. The growing season at the farm is decidedly winding down. The finish line is in sight with frost likely just a month away.
But while the farm slows down as autumn approaches, the wedding side of our business goes into overdrive! Traditionally the spring was the most popular season for weddings, but that has all changed in the past few years as more and more couples decide to have outdoor weddings. The spring is rainy and unpredictable. Autumn is more mellow and the natural beauty of the leaves changing makes outdoor affairs spectacular. Seasonal, local flowers also happen to be especially amazing in the fall so it’s no surprise that late August through late October are the busiest time for Love ‘n Fresh weddings.
Eventually, in the winter, I’ll do individual posts for some of the extra special weddings we’re doing in this busy season. For the time being, here’s an assortment of pretty pictures to keep you up to speed.
Those colours slay me. SLAY! If I had it all to do all over again, I would want that zinnia and celosia bouquet- those oranges and pinks are unreal. I guess the other stuff is ok, too 🙂 Happy September!
Thanks, Jen!! 🙂
Truly lovely work Jennie, well done!
Gorgeous!!! Every single one!
Thanks so much, Amy and Heather! High praise from two talented ladies!
Jennie, where is that first picture (with the fireplace) from? What a pretty room.
It’s at Pomme in Radnor, PA.
Hi Jenny,
I thoroughly enjoy seeing your beautiful designs! My husband and I have been growing flowers for local florists in Blair County, PA for over 25 years. Do you have any tips for keeping the cucumber beetles and other bugs out of the dahlias? Thanks, Debbie
I found out unfortunately best HAND pick them off in morning ASAP or any time that you see them so they don’t damage bud.. ….blow on them or tap stem right under bloom & they’ll back out …then I use a Crochet hook to tap them in to sudsy soap water in large mug like container….don’t just knock earwigs on to the ground…they’ll climb right back up.!! sudsy water kills them + Japanese beetles & thrips too!
