First, deepest thanks for the wonderful support many of you showed last week after my dark and moody post. It meant so much to me to get your thoughtful comments and emails. While it’s not all roses over here yet, it’s decidedly on the upswing.
This week we’re grooming the farm for an important photo shoot, and I’m working on a very special event with the delightful Elizabeth Gilbert this Sunday. And my favorite foliage/filler has just come into bloom: caryopteris. This fragrant, delicate addition to bouquets is always the perfect touch and the inspiration for today’s Backyard Bouquet!
Included in this week’s bouquet is: lisianthus, caryopteris, tweedia pods, queen anne’s pods, autumn anemones, mint, painted fern, lambs ear, mountain mint, and porcelain vine.
What’s blooming in your backyard this week? Feel free to add a link to your own Backyard Bouquets in the comments section below. If you are on Instagram, be sure to use the hashtag #backyardbouquets to join in the fun. I’d love to see what everyone is growing and creating!
The only “rule” is that all the elements in the arrangement must be sourced locally, within a 25 mile radius. Your own backyard is a great place to start!!
Lovely arrangement this week!

Dearest Love & Fresh Flowers,
Every day I look at your arrangements. They are the most beautiful I have ever seen. They brighten my day beyond words. I don’t know your your sadness, but please know you brighten many a day. Wishing you health, wealth, and happiness.
Hi Jennie, I have been following your activities on your extraordinary flower farm for a while now without commenting. Today I have decided to join in with your Backyard Bouquets by including a link to my blog where I have a weekly post called In A Vase On Monday. Started by another UK blogger this is a challenge to find something from the garden to put in a vase every week of the year. We are on easy street at the moment with all the summer goodies, but some of the weeks in the winter were quite a challenge! This week I made a very simple vase using Hydrangea Annabelle: http://peoniesandposies.com/2014/08/11/summer-lace/
This is amazing. Really lovely colors.
