A summer MAAS Building wedding is the epitome of a fun, urban, sweet and simple celebration of two awesome people saying “I do”.  Emma and Julian did just that on 6.8.19, surrounded by lots of people who clearly adored them, including Emma’s awesome girl squad!  We’re so glad Michelle Johnsen Photography was there to capture all the joy, beauty, and colorful street art!

The MAAS Building

First off, can we just talk about what a great venue the MAAS Building, located in the heart of Fishtown, is for an intimate and urban wedding?  It’s got a gorgeous little courtyard for an outdoor ceremony and it’s soaring high ceilings inside give a hint to its industrial past as a brewery in the 1800s and then a trolley repair shop in the 1900s.  Today, the MAAS Building serves as a haven for artists and weddings, hosting lots of unique events nearly every weekend.  We love when couples choose this space because we know they’re going to be pretty relaxed and appreciate art and nature, just like we do!

The Bridal Bouquet

Emma sought out Love ‘n Fresh Flowers because she wanted to support a Philadelphia small business dedicated to sustainable wedding flowers, particularly one that makes a killer bridal bouquet!  She had a vision for an airy, artful, statement bouquet with large, flouncy white focal flowers and pops of yellow, and orange.  Our specialty peonies were just the ticket for making that dream come true.  These white, Japanese form peonies have beautiful yellow centers and a heavenly fragrance.  The supporting pops of yellow and orange came from stems of yellow baptisia (a native plant that pollinators love!) and double-flowering tulips.   All the blooms in Emma’s bridal bouquet were grown at our farm.  They fit in so perfectly at the MAAS Building and in front of all the amazing street murals around Fishtown, don’t you think?

The Reception

Emma chose to use our A La Carte + Bulk Botanicals option for her wedding at the MAAS Building.  So she and her rad girl squad picked up buckets of loose blooms and foliage from our farm a few days before the wedding and assembled lots of bottles of flowers for the tables at the reception themselves.  She used an abundance of our flouncy white Duchesse de Nemours peonies, more yellow baptisia spikes, and seasonal greenery for easy DIY floral decor.
