I’m so far behind on catching up with posting real weddings from 2013. I’m a bit embarrassed to just now be getting around to Erin and Dave’s rustic, cheerful celebration in early June last summer. At least the flouncy peonies and sunny yellow accents in these photos make a frigid January day a bit more tolerable.

Erin and Dave got married at one of our all-time favorite wedding venues, Bartram’s Garden, which is overflowing with history and has the best view of the city skyline while still feeling like it’s out in the middle of the woods. We heaped loads of fragrant white peonies into every element and accented them with yellow yarrow, baptisia and the last of the ranunculus. A few of the very last anemones for the season also made strategic appearances. Dusty miller, fragrant herbs, nigella, and lady’s mantle were the supporting actors. Freshly harvested green wheat fit in perfectly with the barn venue. A sprig of fresh lavender on each napkin was a lovely little touch their guests really enjoyed.
I was particularly fond of the little plant display we created at the barn doors to welcome guests. Erin and Dave took them home afterwards and planted them in their garden for a sweet reminder of their special day!
