CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. A flower CSA works the same way as popular vegetable CSAs. A member typically joins in the winter/early spring before the growing season starts. Their payment helps our farm buy seeds and other supplies for the year.
In return for their investment, members receive a weekly bouquet or bucket of premium organically-grown flowers. When you join Love ‘n Fresh Flowers’ CSA, you’ll be getting only organic blooms that have been grown in a field where nurturing nature through biodiversity and sustainable practices is top priority. We grow our flowers right here in Philly, and they are usually picked the very same morning as members get their share! This is in stark contrast to the half-dead flowers at the supermarket that have been shipped in from South America and were picked several days, even weeks, earlier.
Two types of shares are available: bouquet and bucket. The bouquet share consists of one lovely lush hand-tied bouquet designed by Love ‘n Fresh staff and presented to members in a hand-stamped brown paper wrap each week. Members simply fill a vase at home with fresh water, snip the ends of the flower stems, and place the bouquet in the vase for a beautiful addition to their home or office. The bucket share is a particular treat for the flower lover who enjoys creating their own arrangements. Each week members receive a 6 quart bucket stuffed full of loose stems of several varieties of flowers and foliage, perfect for making several small bouquets to scatter around the house or one large statement piece for a special occasion.
The Flower CSA season runs from June through early September. Members pick up their shares from our design studio in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia. Additional pick up spots may be available and vary season-to-season. Delivery of shares is not available at this time.
We have many repeat members who simply adore their flower shares. Here’s a blog post by one member, Regina, with beautiful photos of her bucket share.
Pricing and sign up for the Organic Flower CSA are available in the winter through early spring in the Online Shop.
