Time to embrace a bit of fall while it’s still here! October is flying by! We’ve got nearly half the field cleared of the summer’s crops and now sown with crops for the spring. The tulips, muscari, fritillaria, ranunculus, and anemones have all arrived. I am almost anxious for frost now so the ground will cool enough to get them planted. We’re in the homestretch, that’s for sure!

And I’m excited about the national conference for the Association of Specialty Cut Flowers (ASCFG) in Delaware starting this Sunday. It’s been a blast helping to plan it. I really love the amazing energy of these conferences and seeing so many dear flower farming friends all in one place!

But no rest for the happily weary. My mind has already started spinning with plans for holiday workshops and sales. Stay tuned for details on a Norman Rockwell-inspired wreath making workshop at the farm (complete with flannel and a bonfire) and a chance to order a Thanksgiving centerpiece from us again this year.

What’s blooming in your backyard this week? Feel free to add a link to your own Backyard Bouquets in the comments section below. If you are on Instagram, be sure to use the hashtag #backyardbouquets to join in the fun. I’d love to see what everyone is growing and creating!
The only “rule” is that all the elements in the arrangement must be sourced locally, within a 25 mile radius. Your own backyard is a great place to start!!
